Have you ever started a project and then midway left it just because you found out some similar projects are available which are not completely similar but due to demotivation you forget your project’s USP?
Or have you ever thought of having a much simpler and a light version of project management tool that is only targetted to Makers/Indepenedent Developers?
There are too many project management tools available out there, then why a new one? Ummmm, I don’t think anyone of them is yet targeted completely for independent developers or makers. I think we need a lighter tool. Currently the management tools are too heavy and does more than we want them to do. I think we needed a tool that focusses on the progress of the tool more than how the tasks are being implemented. We want a Progress Management Tool rather than a Project Management tool.
Taking a project from idea state to launch state is one hell of a task. I have worked on few side projects myself and scrapped them before launch. But since last 3 months I have been freelancing and during that time as my deadlines were tight I used to keep an excel sheet to schedule all the tasks and also control the progress. But I think its easier when its freelancing to keep a simple spreadsheet as its not your product but when it’s your own product you need something more. Thus idea of ProgressBoard crossed my mind.
ProgressBoard - just like my spreadsheet scheduling with simple status for each task and no heavy features that anyway most of them don’t want to use or pay for. And on top of merging it with agile based point system, where each task has some point assigned and based on that the project’s progress will be tracked.
